Bread Pudding

Bread Pudding

This recipe is perfect for breakfast or dessert, plus it is so delicious with the vanilla pudding sauce poured on top.


For bread pudding: 

  • 1 lb egg bread, cubed
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1/3 cup baking sugar
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup raisins

For vanilla pudding sauce:

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup baking sugar 
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract


For the bread pudding:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Grease baking dish.
  • Place cubed bread in a large bowl, sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • In a separate bowl, mix egg, sugar, milk and vanilla.
  • Pour over bread, sprinkle with raisins and stir gently.
  • Pour mixture into prepared pan.
  • Bake 45 minutes  or until top is puffed and golden.

For vanilla pudding sauce:

  • In a medium saucepan, whisk egg, sugar and cornstarch together.

  • Whisk milk and vanilla in.
  • Cook over medium heat while stirring constantly.
  • The mixture is ready when it thickens and begins to bubble.
  • Can be served warm or cold.
  • Cut bread into squares and serve with vanilla pudding sauce.


Try adding caramel sauce or serving with coffee ice cream for an extra treat!
