Dairy Council of Nevada’s Fuel Up to Play 60 program partnered with Clark County School District (CCSD) to celebrate National School Breakfast Week with events for students, including a visit from Raiders Hunter Renfrow, who fueled up for breakfast with Rancho High School students.
Hunter Renfrow talked with students to encourage them to fuel up with milk, cheese, and yogurt and get 60 minutes of active play every day.
During the celebration, CCSD also expanded access to free breakfast to all students.
The National School Breakfast Program serves more than 14 million children every school day. CCSD serves on average 93,000 breakfasts a day. This program provides access to healthy and nutritious foods, such as non-fat and low-fat dairy, fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Milk, cheese, yogurt and other dairy foods offer protein, calcium, potassium and other essential nutrients that help support growth, strong bones and muscles.
Other National School Breakfast Week events included a presentation of a “Rock the Bike” Smoothie Bike, and offering all grades fresh strawberry/blueberry cups plus Greek yogurt and elf grahams as an entree as well as a Raiders Junior Training Camp at the end of the week.
Dairy Council of Nevada works with schools and nutrition officials in Northern and Southern Nevada to promote dairy nutrition, enhance school menu options, address food insecurity, and promote physical activity.
