I am originally from Elgin, IL and moved to Las Vegas June 2011. I have been the PE teacher at Sandy Miller Academy for International Studies since 2012. My current favorite sport to play and teach is Disc Golf. It is a great sport that anyone can participate in and there are free disc golf courses all over Southern Nevada. I am proud to be the first Fuel Up to Play 60 touchdown school in Southern Nevada (I believe it was 2013)! I started the program at my school as a way to promote being a risk taker and trying something healthy instead of snacking on junk food and putting down the technology and getting outside to play. We have seen a dramatic increase in healthy student snacking and physical activity at our school. The program is also great for increasing communication and collaboration across all of the departments in our school community.
